Hmm.
I don't know that I have a personal style other than 'comfortable', but if I do, it's probably somewhere along the 'random', 'arty', 'quirky' and 'messy' axis.
I default to jeans and T-shirts for most of my clothes-wearing time. I do try to find tops that aren't the classic T-shirt shape, which is flattering on no woman; they're likely to be purple, or dark red, or turquoise, or of course black or white. However, colour and shape will be trumped by Other Factors, like my Camp Sparkle T-shirt, which is magenta and classic T-shirt shape, but a fine and splendid garment nonetheless. In its way.
Very often, the lure of beautiful colours overrides important matters of shape and design. The two knitted jackets I made for myself are big and boxy, but also warm and vividly coloured. I devised a fictional heroine (though I never wrote her story) who dresses only in black and white, but with such a fabulous gallery of vividly coloured accessories that few people ever notice the basic plainness of her wardrobe. I could never do that myself. I get seduced by pretty colours, or by an idea which doesn't necessarily fit my own colouring or shape…
I have tried a little bit, recently, to become a bit smarter. I'm helped by the current availability of leggings and tunic dresses, which I like wearing. And I am trying to become a person who wears scarves, because I have knitted so many scarves and shawlettes that it seems a shame not to wear the things I couldn't bear to give away. I'm also trying to remember to wear the occasional pendant, but I tend to forget what I own. My Beast gave me a pegboard for Christmas, for the better displaying of neckwear, so ideally that will help. It'll probably just mean I buy more…
Still with the accessories, I have several fabulous bracelets which I couldn't resist (shiny!) but when I seldom remember to wear. I probably indulge the attraction most with earrings, and these I do wear, whether a paired frog and unicorn in tutus, or a long dangle of yellow flowers, or sparkly blobs on stalks. (For more info, see my earrings post.)
I own several rather nice pairs of shoes, but since I live most of my life in trainers, this isn't very relevant. Sometimes I yearn for a mighty pair of don't-fuck-with-ME boots, but am self-aware enough to know that I would never have occasion to wear them, or the required attitude to make them work. Pity! I enjoy my hand-knitted socks in fun colours, but most people don't get to see those.
At the other end of things, I do wear hats reasonably often. Hats are cool. I have a couple of very smart wedding hats, big brims and feathers, which I love wearing, but which don't belong in, say, Tescos. Less advanced are my black furry hat with brim (lovely and warm) and my dark red cloth one, which really suits me. There's a nice summer straw hat with turned-up black brim which also works. I think I need a dark colour surrounding my face.
Essentially, I suppose, my style is nondescript. I do have a tattoo, for no other reason than that I wanted one, and did manage to design something I'm still happy to have on my ankle (though I tend to forget it is there). Only one piercing per ear, and none elsewhere. Shortish nails, which may well be coloured, generally in a rich dark red, blue or charcoal, or something very sparkly, but which don't stay smart for long with the amount of typing I do. I don't generally wear makeup, because I can't be bothered.
I think that's what it comes down to—my personal style is 'comfortable' rather than actually 'stylish' in any definable way. It's who I am, I suppose, pretty much middle of the road, and easily distracted by the shiny and the quirky.
Happy New Year, everybody!

I think of you as having quite a distinct style - comfortable, quirky, and arty and with a kind of elegant humour ;)

I think your description of my style sounds a lot better than my own! Thank you.
