I'm currently a fan without a fandom, simply because my beloved popslash no longer really exists as a fandom. There are a handful of people who still love and welcome stories, but no more. Sigh.
My fannish 'career' began with Star Trek:TNG, back in the early '90s when I fell in love with the world in general and Lt Cdr Data in particular. I fell out of love in about 2000, flirted briefly but ultimately unsuccessfully with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter, then discovered popslash in 2005 and fell *hard*. So much joy! Nowadays I read here and there - Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, Dorothy L Sayers, Narnia, Pratchett, Singing in the Rain, a random range of stuff that presented itself before my eyes.
My writing has recently expanded slightly, with a couple of challenges in 2021 that led me to write a Mad Men story and a Lord Peter Wimsey story, as well as a couple of unexpected ST:TNG fics. If you want to find my fanfic, the most comprehensive collection is on my website at www.pensnest.co.uk, which includes podfic versions where available. I have an AO3 account as pensnest, which also includes some podfic I recorded—obviously, for stories written by other people. The stories which first saw daylight in my journals are tagged with 'fic'. I am happy to give blanket permission for other fans to remix, record, illustrate or otherwise transform any of my stories - and if you do, I'd be grateful for a link. I absolutely do not give permission for any of my writing to be used for AI.
I occasionally wander through DW looking for interesting people. If I notice something that you've written which I find interesting for any reason, I'll likely subscribe to you, and if you happen to subscribe to me, I'll probably do likewise. If you happen to wander through DW and something I've written interests you, do go ahead and subscribe, and I'll probably reciprocate. I don't tend to give Access, because I virtually never post anything that isn't intended to be public (but if I do, it stays with the friends I've had for years).
