I would totally love to do a train journey through Europe to Venice too. I love traveling by train and I've always wanted to visit Italy. (We spent a week at Lake Garda and visited Venice when I was twelve but I don't remember much.) And I think that yes, Italy should be visited in the Spring or very early Summer. Later on it probably gets burnt and dry like most of the Mediterranian.
