It was rather scary, but I think the sheer horror I felt when I realised we didn't have a leading man for that night's performance was worse! It was, in its way, kinda fun to perform a role without ever bothering with all that tedious rehearsal business. Not that that's exactly true, since I was there for *all* the rehearsals, but you know what I mean.
