Pretty sure that is what it is. Also, I'm in the US and have no weapons. And a weapon doesn't necessarily mean a gun, it can mean pepper spray or sports bat (like...Cricket?) or fireplace poker. Anything, really. So I don't think it is really an "American" question so much as a question for people who believe in that kind of thing.
