Dragons and the like

I will be running the Dragon Challenge again - signups opening on St George's Day (23rd April) and stories going live on 6th June (D-Day). So, prepare yourselves!

I'll be adding another D to the list - last year was Dragons and Dwarves, so this year will be Dragons, Dwarves and... what?

Dear god I want someone to write a fic where Kevin's current disappearance from the world is explained by him turning into a dolphin, abandoning his wife and progeny to go swim in the Pacific.

Cue a tear running down Nick's cheek and Kevin leaps into the horizon of the setting sun in California.

Although if you make it demons, I could write a very nice SPN crossover. Especially if the demons are dolphins.

It's a popslash story challenge, with the only real requirement that the stories have (in 2006) some kind of dragon, literal, figurative, metaphorical or, um, whatever other kind there might be. In 2007, I expanded it so that people could have dragons and/or dwarves. And I'm not sure which prompt to add this year... Have a look at my 'dragon challenge' tag for more detail.

Signups start on St George's Day because of the obvious dragonish connection, and the stories have to be with me by June 5th, as they go live on June 6th, which is D-Day (and also, my birthday) and therefore appropriate. :-)

The stories from both years are on my website, here, and a very gratifying set of stories they are, too.

Sod blowholes. Diamonds makes more sense.
They're sparkly.
Dwarves mined them in Snow White.
Dolphins smell of fish. Diamonds do not.

Well, you see, this is rather how I feel about it. But I was, ahem, lobbied in a pro-dolphin manner, and there is quite a bit of dolphin canon (admittedly there is no shortage of bling either).

Well, I think diamonds are MUCH more fitting, but I suppose I can see where there is a lack of dolphin stories in Popslash...but then again, there HAVE been several stories with dolphins or mentions of them BEFORE your challenge. I suppose I can think of one or two dragons, but...

Ah well. I suppose you don't want to be typecast into the "medieval fantasy themed D-word challenge, even if it's taken in directions other than medieval fantasy", hmm?

i still love the "demons" idea, it fits BOTH, and yeah, the xover fic would make me happy, not that those don't already exist either, hee.
