Rejoice, for if you have not seen it already, Tom and Lorenzo provide the fabulousness that is the Miss Universe National Costumes Parade. Part One, Part Two and Part Three, all with succinct and awesome commentary. As one of the commenters to the site explained to her husband, there are three categories of costume design here: (a) actual interpretations of national costume, (b) didn't get the memo & (c) WTF FEATHERS AND HUMAN SACRIFICE.

This year, Adam Lambert's Little Sister (Miss Venezuela) is disappointingly pastel. Miss USA is… extra special. France Could Try Harder. And my favourite of all is probably Miss Curacao.

And you should read the comments!

In other news: The Guybrator. Now you know what he needs for Christmas.

I do love the ones that look like actual national costumes - Ukraine, Norway, Vietnam and Poland in particular.

I think Miss Finland's dress is supposed to represent the northern lights, but I don't know how well that comes across.

I saw a couple of these costumes in a newspaper and thought they were pretty bizarre. I had no idea most of them were even wackier!

ETA: And now I'm really ashamed for Miss Germany...

The more I think about it, the fact that Miss USA is a crazy-eyed, bedazzled, Liberace-esque Transformer feels weirdly...appropriate. I'm filled with patriotism.
