Water, water!
I never really appreciated the luxury of being able to turn on a tap and get clean, fresh drinking water, until Wednesday of last week. With our water supply at long last coming to the house through lead-free pipes*, we can drink it straight from the tap instead of doing our own filtering (by running two watering canfuls through the system** and then storing the fresh water in an increasing collection of four-pint milk bottles, rinse and repeat for two years). I'm still not used to it!
* It might be thought we were being over-precious, since our 50+-year-old brains are not going to be that badly affected by extra lead, but it was three times the recommended limit after being allowed to stand for just half an hour, and we couldn't bring ourselves to fancy drinking it like that.
** It got used for flushing the toilet
We have been working hard in the house. Our own bedroomn is candied pink now (not dissimilar in colour to the pink bar at the top of my DW page, perhaps a smidgin paler) and we have put the carpet down, put most of the doors back on the wardrobe, and moved back in. Which is nice. The second bedroom has been piled up and rolled back at one end of the room, and the box room, emptied, is now being worked on to turn it into a guest shower room (currently a hole made for a doorway, and a doorway turning into a wall).
Downstairs, our garden room is looking very much like a garden room. The steel beams are still red, but the ceiling is white and the walls are a very successful green, which leads the eye nicely towards the grass outside. I have painted the kitchen ceiling three times, but will have to do a fourth as the third time, supposedly the top coat, has turned out a bit patchy, because it was a bit too dark to see what I was doing yesterday. Sigh. The floor will probably not be dry until the middle of June, so no proper flooring until then and no kitchen until after the floor is down. Ah, it'll be worth the wait. I hope!
I discovered to my great joy that wall paint glitter is a Thing that can be a Thing, and therefore my dressing room could twinkle! Sadly, when done, it just looked dirty, so we had to cover it up with double coats of plain cream. I am thinking of trying again with silver glitter instead of gold on, well, perhaps on part of the kitchen walls. We'll see. Paint is easy to cover up, after all, and I am becoming quite adept with the extended roller. Plus, we have wallpapered most of the ensuite bathroom, and Beast has put the floor down, and the plumber put in the loo and the basin and it looks good! But there is a great deal of skirting board paint in our near future.

Ah, water! We don't know how lucky we are.

We now have a new doorway, a new wall, and quite a lot of fresh surfaces within the room!
