Ded as roadkil, my car
Well, that was tiresome.
I got into the car to head off to the supermarket, and zilch. Nothing. Nada. It was roadkill. Fortunately, Toyota have kindly extended our free call-outs by three months, so Beast called someone who came—fortunately, as it turned out—an hour sooner than promised, and detected a faulty ignition battery. A further frantic phone call, and we headed off in a miniature convoy, me in the Prius, Beast in FIL's all-electric car, to the Toyota garage. If we got there before 5pm they could book us in for whatever. We made it with four minutes to spare. So Beast drove me home in the Mercedes, and we may get the Prius back on Tuesday, if we're lucky. Fortunate that there is a spare car on the premises, because I don't suppose taxi drivers are operating, and it's quite a long walk back from the Toyota garage.

The '38 random things about me' meme that was going around recently.
1. Do you like blue cheese? Ooh yes please! Blue Brie, Roquefort, Stilton, yum!
2. Coke or Pepsi? No, thank you.
3. Do you own a gun? Certainly not.
4. Whisky, Tequila, vodka? None of the above. I don't mind rum, but mostly my alcohol is intaken as wine, occasionally beer, or on special occasions port, Baileys or Tia Maria.
5. Hot dogs or cheeseburger? hot dogs, because I no longer eat beef, not because of any special enthusiasm for hot dogs unless they are made with bratwurst inside hot French or other home-heated bread
6. What do you drink in the morning? Tea in bed, black coffee and orange juice with breakfast
7. Can you do 100 push ups? Yes, provided I can do them 15 at a time
8. Summer, Winter, Spring, Autumn. Spring, I think. Used to be Autumn.
9. Favourite hobby? knitting
10. Tattoos? one on my leg, recently enlarged
11. Do you wear glasses? Yes, for distance, for reading, for computing. For everything really, but different pairs.
12. phobias Not sure I have a phobia, but I am wary of heights
13. Nicknames? Beast, Precious
14. Three drinks you drink? Tea, Coffee, red wine
15. Do you believe in ghosts? no
16. Biggest downfall? lack of self-discipline
17. Rain or snow? Snow is pretty to look at; rain is much less of a bother. So, rain if I have stuff to do, snow if I can stay at home!

19. Age? 59
20. French fries or onion rings? Chips, particularly sweet potato chips
21. Will 6 friends do this? no idea

23. Favourite colour? impossible to say, I love nearly all the colours. But when I buy paintings, they are red/brown/gold, so probably those.
24. Favourite crisp flavour? I like root vegetable crisps, so plain is best, or salt and vinegar will do.
25. Can you whistle? yes, including through a Polo
26. Do you have brothers or sisters? one of each
27. Ever had surgeries? Yep, bladder hoist, gallbladder removal (keyhole), pylinidal sinus
28. Religion? none
29. Shower or bath? shower
30. Like gambling? No
31. Are you a good friend? Probably not as good as I ought to be
32. Broken bones? None
33. How many TVs in your house? Two, one for us, one for FIL
34. Worst pain ever? Either gallstones or giving birth to a 10lb 11oz baby with only Entonox, but I can't tell which!
35. Do you like to dance? Yes
36. Are your parents still alive? No
37. Do you like camping? No. I like hotels.
38. Are you weird? I like to think so, yes.
Also, I got an odd message from LiveJournal saying they had re-set my password, though neglecting to tell me what they might have set it to. And I don't think my DW posts are cross-posting. I'm trying to decide whether to care.
