box 'em up with a bow

Sunday was nice. The kids came over for lunch, since it was both Fathers Day and my Boy's birthday. The pictures went over... as well as could be expected, I'd say, and he was pleased with the books we'd got from his wishlist. I had also constructed a stationery tidy and stocked it with pens and pencils, string, parcel tape, paperclips and so on. I expect Bun has already organised the Useful Household Stationery Items, but I'm sure Boy hasn't. Beast received a large quantity of snacks, plus beer. Roast pork for lunch!

We took Boy back to his house (he walked here but couldn't have carried all the pictures back with him), helped him set up his new dining table and chairs, and I hung the pictures about the place. There were plenty of picture hooks installed already. Not an ideal set of pictures, some of them are a bit too small for the wall space, but most of them look reasonable, and I think a home should have pictures. Also helped him go through a selection of possible fabrics for the blinds in his sitting room and bedroom. He needs blackout blinds. He received the samples yesterday and we walked over there to help him pick a favourite—he really has no ability to judge these things. It must be a family trait as his grandfather was just the same.

That does sound like a good day, and I agree, homes should have pictures.

Those sound like excellent and thoughtful gifts all around. I hope he'll enjoy having the more homey surroundings!

Sounds like you had a very nice Sunday!

I completely agree with you, a home without pictures on the walls just look sad and empty!
