There are icon challenge communities (specifically _nsyncchallenge, chasezchallenge and lance_challenge), with a weekly competition to make icons from - usually - photos supplied by the community moderator. I love making icons, so I enter most of the challenges. It's fun! And I put my icon banners up, when I win something, so as to keep track.
I love the first JC icon, it's fabulous! And the mod's choice Lance one is so much fun! (I can't believe it got so few votes! I really don't understand other people's tastes :-)
Other people's tastes are an eternal mystery, aren't they! I think I preferred my other entry for both the chasezchallenge photos this time... But that's the way of things. (I'm still amused by a lot of the comments on the lantis_lims entries, because one icon can easily receive absolutely opposite comments, eg 'too blurry'/'oversharpened', 'colors are dull'/'lovely coloring' etc.)
