pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (P for Pen)
So I was listening to some of my popslash collection this afternoon, as I worked on the banners for this week's [livejournal.com profile] severalplums winners (see below, ahem), and this prim person came on telling one of my stories, as my Chronicles recordings are in the same file as all the others. It's very strange listening to Me.

We got rid of humungous piles of Stuff this morning—first, a car-full to sundry charity shops, of which there are many in town, then later, three bin bags of video tapes, a cot mattress, a *bunch* of recyclable paper and sundry defunct electrical items, including two besodden keyboards. And went to the gym, *and* my most excellent Beast has put up shelves in the sitting room to hold the revamped collection of DVDs. All this is not to say there isn't Stuff lying about—for starters, there's an old iMac to be donated to my Adorable Niece and Nephew, plus a few videos and a box of Lego; also Bun has a quantity of Stuff of her own which apparently will go to Norwich with her in the autumn, assuming we can hire a pantechnicon. And I haven't disposed of the ironing yet, or properly tidied up the lounge in anticipation of the sparkly invasion at the weekend, yay, but still. This is Good Going.

Speaking of my sister, which I wasn't exactly but she is the parent of Adorable Niece and Nephew, her empire has recently expanded to include two splendid barn conversions which are available for holiday lets. They're in a very pretty part of Devon, and the barns look really good—take a look at the Bridge Farm and Barns website. (Warning, it takes rather a long time to load because of the pretty pics.) If you or anyone you know is considering a holiday in Devon, think about this place! They've only just opened, so there are plenty of opportunities for last-minute bookings.

Sadly, my regular sparkly icon challenges have gone on hiatus (hmm) but I have won the last couple of [livejournal.com profile] severalplums challenges, koff, so here are my banners.

pensnest: Joey Fatone (Joey just being Joey)
I am *so* tired. Had to get up early this morning after a late rehearsal followed by quick emailed notes to people who needed them, to go and see my Pa in Lincoln. Something which would be less tiring if it were more rewarding. He was very snoozy today and didn't have much to say, except on the subject of his rather beautiful new sculpture, a glass-wings and stone creation which I admired a lot. The creator was a carer at the home, and she came in to talk about the sculpture - she's going to work full-time at her art, which I think is fabulous.

Oh well.

This week's batch is particularly gratifying.

Just to prove that I do not always make, ahem, unusual icons.

Well! I put the first challenge up on [livejournal.com profile] severalplums yesterday when we got back from FIL's house, and had the first entries before I'd even finished my own icons! *fingers crossed*

And I got my first BSB icontest first place. Under the cut. )

pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Lance out of this world)
I'm trying to start up a new icon challenge, one which incorporates tutorials as part of the process. For those of you who are interested in making icons, the community is called [livejournal.com profile] severalplums, and I'm hoping to have a few participants so that I can post the first challenge next weekend. Do join, and let people know about the community.

And, some icon banners for Me. )

I need a minion. I'm too old for this gardening lark. Too much wrestling with the evil weeds from *hell* which infest my front garden and have roots like a rat king, or more accurately, like an intergalactic rat emperor. Ick. Though why grovelling on the floor with a hand fork should strain the muscles in my *bottom* I don't really know.

Life is hard.

I am a pusher. Yesterday, I posted a 'PopOdyssey' DVD to my niece. Heh.

Cut for icon challenge banners )

I've received a ton of emails about that programme I was muttering about last night, including a bunch of photos, oh joy, all in colour so I shall have to Attend To Them in Photoshop before I can put them in the programme.

To cheer myself up, I post icon banners )

Huh. Turns out the reason why the room span round and round before I even got out of bed yesterday was that I have labyrinthitis. Hence also the headache, nausea and lethargy. Bah.

In more agreeable news, I managed to make icons just in time for last week's challenges )
pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Cat Stop Posting)
I'll be away for a while, so the latest haul is going up now instead of waiting for another weeksworth.

I should probably stop posting these, but it's nice to keep track.

Whatever... )

From the last two weeks.

I finished watching 'Rome' series one last night, fabulous stuff, although spectacularly icky in places. It's *so* *beautiful*, and quite fascinating, and the way stuff came together... Have ordered series two, which comes out on DVD early next month. Yay.

I was hoping, because I'm greedy that way, to have another one this week (!), but the only challenge running had no voting up. Oh well.
