Another couple of knitting projects finished.

There's an iteration of the Incredible Custom Fit Raglan Sweater here on Ravelry. I bought 166gm of a lovely fancy yarn at Fibre East, which I decided would go very well with the Simply Taupe Malabrigo Worsted I ended up not being able to use for another project, and I was right. It's probably destined for my Boy, since it won't be big enough for my BIL.

I strongly recommend this pattern! It is really easy to follow, and the sweater can be as complicated as you want. It is also seamless, and I did reasonably intelligent things with waste yarn for casting on so I didn't even have to do a lot of picking up around the neck. I *like* seamless garments.

Also, I have finished the Drachentuch, in bright, glittery pink and less bright, unglittery purple (the colours don't really show in the photo). It's double knitted, so that the colours are reversed but the pattern is the same. Is there among you someone who would like an eight foot long shawl/scarf in pink and purple, with dragons? If so, let me know before Wednesday and you shall have it for Christmas; if nobody wants it I shall try to sell it on Wednesday at my Open House for Oxfam.

1. My hand smells of cheese. Stilton. It is distracting.

2. Joey sings. Rather beautifully. Once upon a time I used to find out this kind of thing from fans, but nowadays Lance's Twitter is the source of all the interesting news.

3. Sick of Thicke's shit? Ask Thicke hashtag goes, unsurprisingly, rather badly. Hee.

4. Apparently, Justin and Jessica both play golf. Their lives are so exciting.

5. And now for something completely different: My peacock Shawl )

The thing is, I don't know! I really don't…

Was it the very first thing I knitted from 'Glorious Knitting', the 'Outlined Star' sweater for my five-year-old daughter? The stars were dark blue on the shoulders graduating to light blue at the waist, and the background was dark green at the waist graduating to light green at the shoulders, and the stars were outlined in neon pink, orange and yellow. I… let's say, I learned a lot, knitting that.

Was it my tumbling blocks sweater in blues, greens and yellows (I had a lot of yarn left over from the first two), the first adult-sized garment I ever knitted? Technically it's a mess, but the tumbling blocks are so cool! I should knit another one, since that one is now relegated to cat's travelling basket.

The small steps sweater for my man, or the small steps shawl for my BFF? The zigzag sweater for my bro-in-law, in shades of cream and brown with bright turquoise highlights, or the zigzag jacked that I still wear—it's *incredibly warm*—in blues, purples, pinks and lilacs? Or the black/dark red/brown diamonds for my son, much more recently? I dunno.

And then there's Phase Two, which has seen me knitting socks, and seamless, and lacy things… maybe it's the newest socks, which have a trellis of cabling on the feet. Maybe its the Metallurgy shawl, knitted in Baby Camel and Silk, which feels so nice and is such a great pattern, except that it was a bugger to do, because the first part was basically garter stitch and rather dull, and the second part was a concentrate-like-mad 44-line every-line-different repeat which made my eyes cross. The entrelac shawl? Adorable Niece's Owls sweater (with the not-entirely-satisfactory underarm seaming) or Adorable Nephew's cabled sweater which he hasn't got yet (and which at various points sent me nearly mad with rage)?

I just don't know. I have a feeling that none of the things I've made is my favourite. I have a feeling my favourite knitting project is one I have not knitted yet. It might be the peacock shawl for which I bought a lovely, vibrant blue and purple yarn at Fibre East this year. It might be the chic cardigan with awesome buttons which I plan to make for my BFF. It might be the next lace shawl, or the infinity cowl that starts in the centre and spirals out in both directions, if I can get my head around that. Or another magnificent jacket for me, or a shawl for an as-yet-unconceived grandchild, or, or...

So much yarn, so little time. I'll get back to you in a decade.

(Quite a lot of these are up on Ravelry, where my name is Nestholder, if you want a look.)

I bought some gorgeous buttons a little while ago - they are polished and shiny ammonites in glorious browns and greys! My best friend used to be a geologist, and I have in mind knitting a cardigan for her, using these buttons. The cardi will probably be honey-coloured or something like a dull cream.

I did find a pattern for a cardi with a giant ammonite-like spiral, and I'm quite interested, but I won't have my best friend around to fit it to while I knit! Also, I'm a bit wary of turning it into a cardigan, although apparently this is a thing that can be done. And I'm having problem finding a yarn for this - ideally I'd want a cream with some variation in it, but not too much… the main drama is in the buttons, and a too-dramatic yarn would detract.

I've since been looking through Ravelry, and found some seamless designs (I hate sewing!) which I like the look of:

Roheline

Simple Cardigan #168

Persimmon

Hermine

My friend is mid-50s, about 5'3", bust probably about 40"-42". I'm looking to knit something in DK or worsted, definitely not heavier than Aran weight because the buttons are not large. I want it to be interesting, but not fiendishly complicated… (don't we all!).

My request is this: I'm not yet very experienced at figuring out what might be a good or a bad idea with regard to pattern choice! So I'm looking for advice—can you see potential problems with these patterns? Any recommendations?

I've been doing a fair bit of stashbusting lately. As I started my knitting as a Kaffe Fassett disciple, I have untold quantities of single or part-balls of various yarns, and it's hard to find something to make with such a miscellany.

Some pictures. Quite large. )

I claim to own a black and white cat, but in reality, she is a handsome red-brown.

See? )

And I have been doing some knitting.

It hardly seems non-fannish, in that so many fans I know knit with sturdy dedication. But anyway, knitting it is.

I just posted a day or so ago my most recent Magnum Opus, with the cabling and stuff, and for now I'm back with the simple life, knitting a mohair scarf on big, fat needles. But I did spend a bit of time taking pics of stuff that I've knitted, stuff in my stash, or in a couple of cases, knitted garments I own but did not make.

Anyway, time to share.

So here are some knitting icons, in case anyone would like any )
