Waffle, and When Someone Needs You
Feb. 25th, 2006 08:07 amMy sister has been staying here for a couple of days, as she had a training session in Stanstead yesterday. We had a chance to chat on Thursday when she got here - I was industriously painting my commissioned window (this went very nicely until the large area of purple paint began to thin in random spots - my attempt to disguise the situation by making it look purposefully textured did not help, so I'm going to have to strip that colour off) and we had a nice natter about brats and Sudoku.
She came to the Orpheus rehearsal with me. I'd expected she'd get to see a couple of acts (she won't be travelling up from Devon to see the show, so it would have been nice for her), but instead we spent the first ninety minutes on the walk-down, then did the finales of acts one, three and then two. No wonder she found it all rather confusing. It's just under a fortnight until we open, and frankly, I think we're over-rehearsed and could do with a night off.
Last night, we had a Quiz down at the playhouse. Quizzes are fun, even though I was on a team which knew we would have no chance of winning. This was certainly true - our average score per round: 4/10. Though we scored a magnificent 10/10 on our Joker round, which we correctly guessed was history. But overall, too much 'pop culture' for us! Never mind, 'twas fun. Only down side was that sister got home from her conference at 7.20pm, just as we were leaving the house.
She was up at 7 this morning (eek) so I staggered out of bed and prised my eyelids open to see her while she had breakfast. And she's gone, so I am posting.

With thanks to
ephemera_pop for the beta. This episode is set several months after 'First Blood'. (To read the Chronicles from the beginning, start here.) No prizes for spotting the musical references...

This episode takes place several weeks - possibly months - after 'Tricksy'. I may fill in the gap at some point, but it ain't done now. Prompt: Red

Bun thrives, and sends greetings to those who wished her a happy birthday. There was also mild reproach for my last journal entry, but I took no notice. It was a relief to note that Bun has not so far starved to death, though she is cooking for herself. We bestowed a Bailey's cheesecake upon her, as well as cream, Malibu, and the remains of the bottle of Baileys. Sought out a clothes horse, wot I had forgotten to obtain before we went to visit, and she played merrily with her new digital camera. Fortunate brat. I am happy to note that she is going to be in the chorus of the house production this December, 'Guys and Dolls'. Clearly, I have indoctrinated her well. This is, of course, the proper function of a parent.
I have a challenge story to finish, and another to write, and somewhat less than two weeks for the double task. So naturally, here's another episode of the 'chronicles'. Prompt is 'Food'. There should, with luck, be an immediate sequel within a couple of days.
