pensnest: dinosaurs laughing (LOL dinosaurs)
I experienced a minor miracle today! Our dentist has sent out emails saying that they could be open for routine inspections... I called a couple of times last week and failed to get through, but this morning the call was answered on the first ring, and, well. I got appointments for both of us to get check-ups TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

*

We had a lengthy text from our GP Practice telling us how they are now opening more... and saying very firmly that abuse will not be tolerated. They have had "foul and abusive language on an hourly basis for the past 15 months, threats of physical violence weekly, and have had to have the Police out to us". Ye gods. I mean... what do the abusive people think they stand to gain by this?

My fingernails have a distinct line across the middle of the growth beyond the fingertips. It's quite odd. A white line, across more yellowish nail. I'm ruling out arsenic and thallium poisoning, renal therapy and chemotherapy, and I don't believe it's due to an unbalanced diet, either. But it is odd, because it's across every nail except for the left index finger, which broke, probably at the line, and was chewed off. Ahem.

We have received a Weather Alert for Thunderstorms, which sounds pretty evil except... the rest of the weather app is telling us it'll be sunny. Then a nice, warm evening with sunshine. Ooh, there might be thunder tomorrow. Never had such a weather alert before, so this is unsettling.*

Really lovely twitter thread here: https://twitter.com/nayright12/status/1414635135421538307 about England, and who 'is' or at least represents England, good and bad.

Arrival of a diplodocus at Norwich Cathedral, and her (I can't help it, I think of Dippy as female) welcome by the organist and choir. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGl1_dNIzXw

Follow it up with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gduevTTuwVM

* It didn't thunder.
pensnest: Justin gurning in close up (Justin Timberlake god of sex)
May I recommend to you Terrible Real Estate Photos, as displayed on Bored Panda and linked by [personal profile] conuly. Some of the captions are quite brilliant. And as I watched, I emitted shrieks of WTF, horror, disbelief, more horror, more disbelief, a toilet! and, well. Although possibly #29 would be a, er, stimulating place to hold Camp Sparkle. Also, [personal profile] ephemera, beware of #23.

My 'favourite' is #9. There are worse things than needing a giant towel featuring Justin Timberlake, I'm just saying.

The Snowflake Challenge must happen! I haven't always managed to do much of it, but it is an inspiring and agreeable way to start the year's posting, and it'd be a real shame to see it end.

*

This evening I came across the Calvin and Hobbes Snowmen page. Calvin's snowmen have filled me with joy ever since I first encountered Calvin and Hobbes, and I urge you to take a look, whether you are familiar with the comic or now.

And here on Bored Panda are some actual snowmen in much the same style, many of which are awesome. If our building work comes to a grinding halt in the New Year because we are buried under bushels of snow, I shall console myself by building sinister snowpeople.

Which led me to a link to Inappropriate Christmas Comics by Cyanide & Happiness, many of which are quite evil.

BIL arrived this evening. I am now surrounded by Robinson males.

And I have conjunctivitis.
pensnest: B/w Lance in sunglasses and smirk (Lance exceptionally cool)
We walked into town this morning and accomplished various chores—bits of shopping, and Beast's credit card had to be sorted out, which took a surprisingly long time, and I went to the Forum to look at the print and paper interactive exhibit, which was rather disappointing but oh well. Then we had lunch in the pub with the Beer menu. I drank Wittekirke Rosé, which is flavoured with raspberries, and very good. After the walk home, I have done 11.9k steps today.

So naturally I sat down with Lance Bass on YouTube...

Lance has a very devilish side.

There's a lot of vagina talk on the show (apparently). Features Lance and Joey.

There are certain things you don't talk about: Religion, politics and the Kardassians (and sharing a bed with one's mum-in-law) 24min long
pensnest: Close up of ridgeback's nose nuzzling tiny piglet (motherly love)
Start the day with tears in your eyes: Disabled dog can run now.

Wow.
pensnest: exceptionally cool dog, caption 'dude, please' (Dude dog)
The incessant parade of intrusive ads has finally forced me off Safari, so I'm re-logging-in on Firefox and hoping for a less irritating web experience. There are bound to be hiccups.

Found via Jim Hines: snuggling puppies. I particularly adore the *four* tesselated ones.

And via that site, giant dogs with their owners, although I swear that first one is a person in a hairy suit. Awesome.

Let's see if the cross post still works.
pensnest: Kris Allen being cute (Kris adorable)
Via Shakesville, I saw and was awed by Christina Bianco's Diva Impressions today. You can be awed too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3DlDPeurRw

This one is "Oh Holy Night". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_3y0F-toSM

Also, how amazing is this font! http://www.itsokaytobesmart.com/post/24198381210/univers-revolved-letters-are-an-inherently It would make a great code - you could send little block figures like an ill-made chess set, to spell out a message. There is much coolth in the world.
pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Eye Candly)
Woo hoo! That bizarre semi-improv pilot Lance was in a few years ago is now up on YouTube HERE. That bit is Lance's appearance - the rest is there too, but for obvious reasons less interesting. His skin looks like whipped butter.
pensnest: Lance Bass looking very smug, caption Tomorrow the world (Lance tomorrow the world)
Well. My day started exceptionally happily today, as [personal profile] frausorge sent me a link which filled me with joy.

Lance! Lance, looking so pretty! A single, perfect tear...

I'm still not gonna eat that stuff tho'

Also, Lance was hanging out with Alan Cumming recently. This can never be bad, although I could have wished for a better photo than this.

Heh. Like, this.

Does anyone else think Lance's nose is growing back?

And now, time for a meme:

1. Reply to this post with "LAVA LAMPS ARE COOL" and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

[personal profile] turlough picked these icons:

Alan Cumming is my kinky crush, as per this post. As for this particular picture, I just liked it - the sexual ambiguity in it is so brilliant. Sadly, I don't know what play (or other production) it's from, or why he's dressed as a woman.

The Crown Frog, made by [livejournal.com profile] amethystia, just happened to crop up when for some reason it was a brilliant icon to use for a story I was posting, or possibly commenting on, at the time, and I like it enough to have kept it. It's surprisingly useful!

made by [personal profile] celticfire, who did a great job. I only acquired it fairly recently, but how could I resist? One of those icons that's appropriate for almost anything.

This was made by [livejournal.com profile] rrr_nightingale, and I'm not surprised if it baffles you a bit. It's my Vorkosigan icon, for commenting on Bujold-centric posts. In one of the stories, we learn that Gregor (the Emperor) once gave away an elephant, something of a bribe to a visiting ambassador. Just goes to show, if you figure out what motivates people, you can get ever so much out of them.

Ah, Lance. There was a photoshoot not all that long ago in which Lance was made up all scruffy and collared and spike-haired and, well, all kinds of things that I don't think of as particularly appealing most of the time, but, well. Lance! I made a whole bunch of them (interspersed with similarly unlikely photos of Lance as a boxer). Woof.

This was something I made for one of the [community profile] severalplums Hallowe'en challenges. I made the texture, and liked the result. But it doesn't get a lot of use.
pensnest: Sir Ian McKellan as a Dame (Panto)
A couple of happy-making links I came across today.

Third video down is a delightful parody of the Old Spice ads. I'm linking to this blog because when I try to watch the thing on YouTube, I can't see it. Very odd.

The Red Wombat Tea Co, with a selection of awesome packaging designs for products as diverse as "I Can't Believe It's Not Echidna Milk" and "Blackbeard Brand Rugged Tampons". Sadly, most of the products do not exist— but as some have come into being, there is yet hope.
pensnest: Lance Bass looking very smug, caption Tomorrow the world (Lance tomorrow the world)
I seem to have been collecting interesting links again.

Bikers Against Child Abuse is... kind of awesome.

Wishes Are No Horses is an 'alternate timeline' for 'Anne of Green Gables' that shows what a wonderful thing it was that Anne went to live with Matthew and Marilla, for so many people. Very well done.

And, oh, Lance, how do I love thee? CinderFella, on YouTube Thank you, [personal profile] ephemera, for pointing me to this miniature musical.
pensnest: tuxedo cat draped over computer monitor (Cat stop posting)
A few things I've come across today.

The Best People, something of a rant from Kari Sperring.

What would happen if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90% of the speed of light

The fifty cutest things that ever happened. Well, there may be worthier candidates than these, but many of them made me smile. The soft toys, the cat family portraits, the pug in a horned helmet and the elephant at the seaside are probably my favourites.

And, for your delectation, possibly the most beautiful naked picture ever )
pensnest: very small animal on its hind legs, caption Roar! (I am Hamster hear me Roar)
(a) Best description ever: the alluring aroma of a tire fire that has been extinguished with horse urine.
If you guessed Axe body spray, you guessed right!

(b) Gay Porn and Kittens! It's like a microcosm of the internetz. Just the best bits.

(c) Where the hell is Matt, 2012
pensnest: Ian Lawless from the fragrance ad, smirking adorably (Flawless)
I was glancing through Cake Wrecks, as you do, and followed a link to another blog of Many Cool Things, and when I got to the foot of the page there was An Armoured Bear of awesomeness. Awesomeness!
pensnest: Alan Cumming, probably naked, caption Bed? (Alan Cumming Bed?)
I put Alan Cumming on my List as my kinky crush.

Mmmmmmmmm, yeah.
pensnest: Alan Cumming, probably naked, caption Bed? (Alan Cumming Bed?)
We're off out today to my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Go them!

Meanwhile, though, Alan Cumming's blog features a hilarious little story about a cock ring. With many bleeps. And he got married again!
pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Default)
I picked this up somewhere on my Reading list, and it is a delightful little timewaster.

http://www.drawastickman.com/
pensnest: close up of Brad Bell (Cheeks like a little musketeer)
Things that are awesome today.

This story. It's set in the Vorkosigan universe, it's Aral and Cordelia and Aral's crush on his new secretary, and it is reallytrulywonderful. Read it at once! (There are three brief pre-stories, all of which are excellent, which you should read first, all linked at this post.)

Cheeks loses an Eye Dear heaven, but that boy has the prettiest eyes ever. And there's also Gay bullying, which, apart from the regrettable hair, is brilliant.

All this before ten a.m!
