Sable peed in Beast's slipper.

I mean, on the one hand, the wee was neatly contained and in a washable place. Way better than on the carpet. On the other hand, ew! And phew, does cat urine stink.

The slipper was rinsed, washed in the machine, soaked, dried outside, washed again, dried outside again, and *seems* to be odour-free. I did suggest the option of new slippers, but we'll see.

In other, even odder news, I got THREE comments on AO3 yesterday, all for different stories. As my usual score is one kudos per day (I want to type kudo, but it doesn't look any righter), this was a charming surprise.

When my last two boy cats were kittens, they'd pee in incorrect places. It's never fun.

Did you try washing with a bit of apple cider vinegar? That always eliminates the cat urine odor from things I can toss in the washing machine. Or for slippers, a new pair isn't a bad choice if they're older anyway.

I have left the cleaning part of the business to my Beast. Laundry is dull at the best of times, and laundering cat pee is definitely not for me! But he seems to have succeeded.

Animals love to wee in small spaces don't they? Some years ago, my daughter bought herself a new handbag, for some reason she put the hamster in it and he promptly weed in it!😅

I tried not to laugh as it was typical Fluffy to do something naughty. He was a big, macho Syrian hamster, very bossy, a daredevil always jumping off things. Your icon is perfect, Fluffy was a very loud, shouty hamster, I've never had a loud hamster before or since. If we did something he didn't like, he would screech at the top of his voice. He was white with red eyes, I suspect he had some rat DNA and that he was nearly blind because white animals often are, but that didn't stop him throwing himself off tables or whatever. The first few times, I thought 'oh no, he's fallen!' But when I watched him, he was definitely planning to jump off 😅 He was such a character!💙🐹

The striped cat from next-door has been in the garden, which might perhaps have led to Sable deciding to mark her territory. At least, I don't think we have offended her particularly of late!

If you spray hydrogen peroxide on it, you'll smell sulfer and less pee. And after another time or two, neither sulfur nor pee. It is the only thing I know that works for that.

Ah, okay! There was an anti-cat-odour spray involved, I believe, though I'm not sure what the ingredients are. But we may need the information in future....

If the slipper isn't completely odour-free and Beast really wants to keep it you could try white vinegar. It's what I used to get rid of the odour the few times Lancecat did something similar.
