Snowflake Challenge Day 5, a non-fannish enthusiasm

We are awesome in our passion for fandom but we are more than that. We are vibrant multi-faceted people. Yes, you too. Share a little bit of that, if you can, according to your comfort level.

It hardly seems non-fannish, in that so many fans I know knit with sturdy dedication. But anyway, knitting it is.

I just posted a day or so ago my most recent Magnum Opus, with the cabling and stuff, and for now I'm back with the simple life, knitting a mohair scarf on big, fat needles. But I did spend a bit of time taking pics of stuff that I've knitted, stuff in my stash, or in a couple of cases, knitted garments I own but did not make.

Anyway, time to share.

Hi. Here via the link on Knitting, but double yay for another Snowflake Challenge participant!!

These are gorgeous! I'm snagging several of these - 13, 19, 32, 26 and 29. I am especially excited about 29 - I just started Jarod Flood's infamous and awesome Rock Island Shawl and 29 SPEAKS to me!

...Took a peek at the cardigan you linked to above. Whoa. It's really gorgeous!!

I love sitting with my knitting and a story on tape or a set of DVDs I've seen before... but I'm not a fast knitter and somehow the hours do slip by!

I'm very proud of Bun's jacket. :-)

I'm not taking any (I'm not a knitter) but these are really nice. # 16, 25, 26, and 32 are particularly lovely I think.

:-) 16 and 25 are from an amazing garment I bought in Australia—incredibly intricate, with colours and textures and fascinating crossovers and stuff. The stitches are tiny; it's machine-knitted but takes about a day to produce on a machine because it's so weird and wonderful.

I need to pick my knitting up again -- there's a scarf almost-done that has been that way for far too long. I'm trying to keep my secret stash habit a secret, though, so I'm taking 26, which looks really interesting.

These are all lovely -- I keep spotting ones I hadn't noticed before!

Ah, 26 is from a 'stashbuster' scarf of mine, lots of ends of balls (which didn't actually end, so I just have lots of really tiny balls now) and variously sized needles for the fun of it.

Firstly, I love your sweater.

Secondly, it is WAY cool that you knit. My mom has knit since I can remember...everything from slippers to baby blankets to bedspreads to Christmas stockings. I cross-stitch, but knitting is like a superpower...and I envy anyone who can do it!

I'm very proud of myself for finishing that jacket! My first serious effort at cabling (I've done little bits, like on a hot-water bottle cover), but that was complicated!

I like doing creative stuff, and there are so many fascinating and gorgeous yarns in the world... I go to a local stitch-and-bitch group and have been inspired to do terrifying things like socks. It's a lot easier than you might think.
