An odd up-and-down-so-far-ish day. I was feeling quite nicely energised this morning. Had looked at my Remix Challenge assignment, and found it good - in the sense that (a) my victim is a writer I admire, and (b) my victim's style is quite different from mine. So there should be something I can do. I even, gasp, got an Idea. Am quite excited about doing this challenge: like participating in DWNOGA, it feels as if I'm playing with the cool people. Also, I am really interested in seeing what someone is going to do with my fiction. Hee!
Got home from bewilderingly revamped supermarket to the discovery that the man who was going to mend the roof has decided not to take the job. Bit tiresome of him, since he'd quoted for it and I'd accepted the quote, and was only calling to see when he would be round (it was supposed to be this week, I thought). Bloody unprofessional not to at least take the trouble of letting me know he was no longer available for the job. Now I have to find someone else reliable (hah!), a chore I hate. Also, I have to chase *four* missing copies of Orpheus score - four! I mean, I only gave them a fortnight to bring the scores back... plus notice in our newsletter. Bastards.
On the upper hand again, my Beast sagely suggested that since I needed to strip paint off my glass picture, I should obtain paintstripper. Cannot imagine why did not think of this, but paintstripper obtained and applied, and it works a treat. Glass is now virgin again and ready for another attempt. This is Just As Well, as it seems Pebeo have ceased manufacturing their iridescent gel, which I thought might look rather good here if 'twas necessary to cover up damage. Will wax creative tomorrow, will clean the glass thoroughly tonight. Possibly. Then again, have meeting, and also tiler coming to inspect bathroom.
On the waxing creative subject, I had a lotta fun making icons in that portion of the weekend not taken up with Orpheus in the Underworld rehearsals. A bunch of new ones for me, mostly on the 'subject on black background' theme. Have occasional desire to create pretty, soft icons like other people do (see below) but when I try the wretched things take me so *long*. Have temporarily resolved to stick to my last. All my resolves are temporary.

Rather liked this icon, it's fanciful and the colour's pretty.

This was an attempt at a soft, pretty icon - it took *forever*, and in the end, I kinda preferred the other one I made for this challenge, which was bright and brash. Perhaps because this one was imitation, and the brash one was experimentation.

Quite pleased with this, but the Nick icon I've kept to use was the bright, brash one attached to this post. Probably some deep psychological reason for this. Dare not speculate.

Okay, the soft is lovely, and it's such a change I'm sure it DID take forever...
..but the part that leapt out at me is that Lance with brown eyes and skin tone looks quite a bit like Wade.
Quite possibly both.

also quietly petting the reflexive Nick.
Grrr and Argh on the roofers front. That's just plain rude of him.

Grump. Now I have to find a roofer. And I refuse to use anyone who knocks on my door and offers to do the work 'while they're in the neighbourhood', bah! Grump.

Oh! Hmm. Hmm. I spose he does, rather - though Lance's eyes are still softer, less intense.

Yeah, that's true, Wade's brown eyes are more like "piercing midnight" than Chris or Joey's "warm chocolate". I think it's just the fact the resemblance is THERE and I never saw it before is what's bothering me... ..but now I'm curious about Lance with almost!black eyes, lol.

I'm inspired to play around with Lance's eyes a bit more, but for the moment my Beast is muttering for food, so I must hie me to my wifely duty.

See, Turlough can think whatever she likes, but I never said looking like Wade was a bad thing. For myself, I reserve the right to feel that looking like Eminem is a bad thing, lol.
Heeeee.
I was about to say "Lance can be Lance, and Wade can be Wade," and then my head went to the identity-swap routines in "the Dancer" and I died laughing. *g*
see, your-icon!Lance looks like normal Wade. And what does Wade's icon say? *squints* Prince? Hmmmm.

I use Paint Shop Pro and like you have learnt so much through using the it. Mainly because I was too lazy to read the manual and just jumped straight in! I love some of the online tutorials too - they're a good source of hints and tips for me.

bewilderingly revamped supermarket
I hate when they do this! I'm afraid to go grocery shopping right now because last time I was there they had just started pulling everything apart. Waah! I'm never going to find anything.

But you can do it, the soft!Lance icon is really nice. (Despite what Josh might say about him looking like Wade :-) The only kind of soft look I seem able to accomplish is the faded-photograph kind and that doesn't seem to be very popular.
The JC icon is gorgeous! Wonderful colours and cropping.

As for the Remix Challenge - yes, indeed, new stories. More stories! This challenge thing that goes on, it's a wonderful way to make sure a fandom stays alive, with new Stuff every so often.
