Bits and Pieces from a busy week
Mar. 26th, 2006 03:57 pmThere's no peace, is there? Four nights out since last Sunday, and none of them rehearsals!
We retrieved Bun from uni on Friday, heading down to Bristol in time for lunch. I wandered around for a while in fruitless search for Perfect Boots, then went back to the HoR for tea. Bristol has a new Forbidden Planet, with a dalek in the window, so naturally had to browse. In the evening, Beast and I attended the Dance Show, and had a thoroughly good time. Bun was in a tap number, which was tough stuff and very nicely done; there were about two dozen items all told, and a splendid variety, from ballet to belly dancing to break dancing, with quite a lot of 'modern', whether they called it Hip Hop or Street Dancing or Contemporary, and 'guests' who did salsa or Le Roc, and a lovely Chinese dancer with incredibly long, graceful sleeves. Oh, and a 'can can' - which actually, I don't think was quite as good as our 'galop' in Orpheus, but polished nonetheless. A quite breathless evening, pace-wise. Most impressive.
Last night it was our turn to dance, at the opsoc's Dinner & Dance. A bit downbeat, because of the smallness of the throng, but we had a salsa demo and lesson as part of the entertainment, plus the chance to do a waltz and (just the two of us!) quickstep. Beast consumed an unaccustomed amount of wine, and couldn't remember very many steps... He gets very vague, with alcohol in him! Then there was much bopping about, including a 7-song rock'n'roll section, ye gods. Staggered back with sore feet but had to finish reading 'Talliswood' before bed. Possibly would not have embarked upon it had I realised quite how long it was...
Mother's Day today, so flowers were bought yesterday, and cards delivered to me by Beast and Brats this morning. Also, Bun brought me toast with honey in bed, which was nice. The menfolk don't think of these niceties, so it is good to have her back. The others have been bonding over World of Warcraft for much of the day, so I have been reading fanfic and contemplating the ironing mountain without enthusiasm.
Oh, yes. ( Some Photoshop fun )
