For the love of printed stories...
Apr. 27th, 2007 04:09 pmFirstly - it is now safe to come back to my LJ without sunglasses! My dragonish layout will be back when the dragon and dwarf stories are due, but it's having a rest for now, as are my eyes. You are still very welcome to sign up, however!
Now, then. A few years ago, I ran a newsletter for zine readers; it was called An Idiosyncratic Review and had, well, reviews, ads, letters and sundry items. Much to my astonishment, I received a letter this week from someone in the US who remembers AIR, and is asking me for advice on where to get hold of some zines. Of course, I have no clue, but I thought, there will be someone on LJ who can help.
So. The primary objective is to find some Jack/Tony '24' zines. Anyone know where they might be available? I've found a couple of promising LJ communities - anyone know of any music vids to recommend?
Also, if anyone knows the whereabouts of any fanfic for The Time Tunnel, pref Tony/Doug, there's someone out there who would be very grateful.
Is there, somewhere - anywhere - anyone now producing some kind of zine review/advertiser? My correspondant would like to place want-ads for two particular zines (both British, as it happens). Are there printed or online resources for this? It has been so long since I even thought of buying any...
There must still be zines in production, though perhaps not these particular zines. Are there any reviews being produced anywhere? As I remember, AIR suddenly collapsed because of the internet - it was very handy being able to collect copy by email, but it seemed all at once that nobody of my acquaintance was buying paper zines any more, and nobody had anything to review. Sad, indeed.
Anyhoo. Information would be most gratefully received.
And, on a not unrelated note, is there someone in the US who would be willing to acquire and post to me copies of 'Surfacing' and receive payment by PayPal? It doesn't look as though the publishers take PayPal, which is a shame, as I cannot resist the list of authors.
