Basically a Win!
Dec. 26th, 2007 10:08 amWell. Christmas 2007 looks like a success.
Dinner, good. Parsnips a bit soggy, but gravy *magnificent* due to actual boiling of turkey bones for stock. Unexplained failure of butcher to provide giblets, but cat received slivers of turkey anyway, and was not impressed by her breakfast this morning, which did not include same.
Presents in: good loot! My Boy (with, ahem, guidance from his sister) gave me earrings and a pendant of yellow glazed glass; my Bun gave me red and gold glass earrings of great classiness; also, I have microwaveable slippers, and consequently, nice warm feet, yay! And I got a charming and adorabull MTYG story called Year of the Bull, Trickyfish with that unexplained touch of weirdness that is just part of life when you're in a boyband, and a cameo appearance by a mechanical bull, hee.
Presents out: generally went well. My Pa and Yaya were very happy with the glass heart necklace I picked out in Bloomingdales (phew). Brats, Beast and In-Laws, all satisfied with their lot. Gratifying feedback from MTYG recipients (yes, I wrote a pinch-hit, and it did work out, in the end). (Am slowly working my way through the stories, going by the recipients list so as to be surprised by pairings. There is some Good Stuff out there, people! Much glee!)
One of the things I found as a family present was a 'Round Britain Quiz' in M&S. We played it as a family during the afternoon, which turned out to be a good move as it was tough! (Not as tough as the Radio 4 quiz of the same name, though.) Then, we played Cranium, which involved such oddities as Bun having to mime "lame duck" and me and Boy having to mime "page three girl" and so forth. Good game, Cranium. I think, in retrospect, that it's as well the eyes-closed drawing of 'snorkelling' was guessed as quickly as it was, because goodness knows where that might have led. Cluedo today, I think.
Doctor Who was crap, though. Pity.
