Snowflake Challenge Day 2
Jan. 2nd, 2013 10:48 amDay 2:
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
One: A Very Special Snowflake from the 2012 Make The Yuletide Gay challenge.
I picked this one in part because it is 'for everyone' rather than written for a specific recipient. It's wonderful - but there are other wonderful stories in this year's challenge, as usual. This story has JC planning to share his living space with AJ McLean and Robbie Williams (pause for extreme laughter), Chris doing his level best to talk him out of it, and Justin... getting involved. It is very funny. Take this little moment between JC and Chris:
"Ooh! Do you want a snowflake? That's why I called. I thought, if you wanted a snowflake, then I could put one in an envelope and write your address on it and stick on a stamp and then I could send it to you. In the mail."
"C, nothing in this world would bring me greater joy."
Two: There's Kinks in This Yarn, but It Still Knits Up Fine from the 2012 Yuletide challenge.
Knitting fic. Truly. Awesome knitting fic. Funny knitting fic. Lewd knitting fic. I know, it all seems so unlikely, but it's true. *So* clever.
Three: I have a very personal interest in this one, and indeed, it would not have been created without me, but I can't help it, I have eternal love and must share. Trailer for 'Show you the shape of my what?' on YouTube.
bubbleforest created it for my popslash 'bittybang' story, which is a Backstreet Boys/The Full Monty AU, and it is SO PERFECT.
Now, I realise that popslash was once a behemoth of a fandom, but it isn't now, so I hope a few people will decide to check back and give the story and the vid a look-over. Well worth your time.
