Yesterday I went for a picnic at the seaside. It was lovely! A balmy 25C, clear blue sky, a gentle breeze.

You've probably realised I'm not in East Anglia any more. Yep, I am in Tasmania, enjoying an 'Indian summer' even though today is somewhat overcast and it has been raining. My FIL has gone to one of his Senior School classes today, and I managed a healthy nine hours of sleep last night and am feeling quite human.

I got here early on Sunday morning, after a perfectly regulated set of flights starting from Heathrow at 2205 on Friday. Half-way round the world in Economy, what joy. In fairness, it wasn't anywhere near as uncomfortable as I'd feared, and on all three flights (to Singapore, to Melbourne, to Launceston) I was seated at the aisle, next to a young couple who promptly went to sleep and were no bother at all! I have been doing my best to get this house in saleable order, and meeting with strong resistance about such details as the TWO VEGETABLE BEDS in the sun room next to the front door, which I maintain do not create a welcoming arrival point. Seriously, two veggie beds, soil in boxes 12" high and about 4' x 6' each.

Prior to coming out here, I was in London for a couple of days with my Beast. We went to see Zootropolis, and enjoyed it very muchI love that sloth—and thought it rather a clever movie. Then met the lovely [livejournal.com profile] saba1789 and [personal profile] rikes for Afternoon Tea at the Melody Restaurant in Hammersmith, most agreeable and civilised; I then went with them to see Adam Lambert in concert at the Apollo. A foot-weary experience as we were standing, but most enjoyable, although I have Serious Doubts about what Adam chose to wear—an 'Abenazer' outfit followed by a suit made of upholstery fabric and then a sort of zebra-adjacent outfit which... let us just say, nothing lived up to the magnificent displays he wore in the Queen concerts. Still, a good time.

Anyway, here I am in Tassie, hoping that my presence will encourage my FIL into more flexible ways regarding selling his house and preparing for the journey home. I think I'm helping him to accept the estate agent's advice on reducing the price of this house; as for the possibility of persuading him not to pack up every bit of crap he owns and shipping it back to England, I am less sanguine, but you never know. I shall persevere.
