Dec. 23rd, 2019 10:18 pmBeast and I spent much of the morning cleaning the gutters around the house, of which there are ever so many. Well, he was up the ladder, insouciantly chucking clumps of wet leafage about, I was at the bottom of the ladder holding on to it and worrying. It seems to be a pre-Christmas ritual for us, as I'm sure we did the same thing about a year ago. Fish and chips for lunch as a reward.
Afterwards I headed up the road for the last crucial bits of shopping—a few gap-pluggings from Aldi, and picking up The Meat from the butchers. When I got back, of course, I was locked out, Beast having taken his dad up for a scheduled doctor visit. Sigh. I sat on the doorstep for about forty-five minutes, playing on my phone and getting a frozen butt.
I ordered a boned turkey as well as our actual Christmas meat, and was pleased, when I investigated the handsome box, to find all the bones and giblets, which included a *massive* liver. This I chopped up for the cats, who have just devoured it. Fluffy made a great deal of excited and slobbery noises, meanwhile Sable nommed it all most efficiently and began to steal Fluffy's. The bones and other innards are in a cooling stock now. I feel very productive.
Boy texted me for advice on Grandpa's Christmas present, which I supplied without commenting on the reduction of shopping days remaining before Christmas to 1. I feel magnanimous. My Bun declared when she came round to decorate the tree that she was not doing the gift-buying for them both this year, Boy is on his own. I don't blame her! I'm sure it will do him good.
May... possibly... have a fic idea for the Christmas Cracker popslash challenge. Haven't found much in the way of Useful Facts to flesh it out, but I dare say I can make some up!
