A documen-taaary
Jul. 10th, 2020 10:33 pmBeast and I just watched The Boy Band Con on YouTube—that's Lance's documentary all about Lou Pearlman. Quite a bit about boybands (and a girlband), mostly about how *nice* he was and how they all felt he cared about them until they discovered where the money was going, plus a bit about some very iffy 'massages' and a most bizarre incident involving someone being told that to get a particular deal they'd have to touch the relevant executive's penis (because that's how they do things 'in Europe', uh huh), but Lou would help them by getting them to practise on him…. Thinks: Did I hear that right? A lot, also, about Pearlman's past, the myths he told about his own younger days, cunning methods of misrepresenting his own business, and the whole Ponzi scheme thing which defrauded so many people, several of whom appeared in the programme. And a nasty but unsurprising hint of politics—having bought his politician, he nearly escaped justice.
All in all, very interesting. Chris, JC, AJ, with quite a lot of Aron Carter (there is something very wrong with that young man), Ashley Parker Angel (do I have that right), and of course Lance himself, often talking with his mother. Wasn't expecting Justin (though Lynn was in), but I was quite surprised not to see any of the other Backstreet Boys on display.
It's available on YouTube for free now. Worth a look.
