That which was lost has been found.
Oct. 28th, 2020 09:55 pmSome of you may recall that after our Extensive Building Work in 2017, I bewailed the loss of two stuffed hippopotami, and a duvet cover with matching pillowcases.
The hippos turned up quite unexpectedly when FIL was packing for a trip to Australia—they were inside his suitcase.
Naturally we opened every suitcase in the house in search of the duvet set—these were perfect for the best spare bedroom, and I actually bought the curtains in there to match them. However. No luck.
Until... yesterday. We were sorting out bedroom 3 prior to the delivery of wardrobe bits. Put the mattresses into the bathroom, piled the bedclothes in the bath, that kind of thing. The actual beds we left in there, they are divans with drawers and there really wasn't anywhere else to put them, so we shoved one up against the window and took the drawers out of the other so as to lift it on top of the first one. There was an odd little flump sound inside the bed as we turned it on its side. Yes, there were the duvet cover, pillowcase covers, and giant sheet, hiding inside the bed base. Three years missing!
FIL, who has no aesthetic sensibilities and thus does not care, uses a set of red bedlinens, so the blue ones will be out of commission for a while longer, but it is a relief to have discovered them. Good grief.
