Oh god. I want a REALLY good recording of this. My heart.
Also: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4jIaU4OcMR/ thank you, Chris.

Back in the day my LJ Friendslist would have been buzzing. Now, I don't even know if there's anywhere to go to join the conversation. If there is a conversation.

I saw 23 swans as I rode home on the top deck this afternoon. 21 of them were clustered in the same spot, though I did not see a human there feeding them. It's obviously The place for snacks, though, as we were walking into town a few days ago and saw someone wielding stale bread and the same fleet of swans arrived in remarkably short order.

I observed, this morning, that a magpie had extracted an entire fat ball, presumably from the fat ball holder in my garden, and landed gleefully in the middle of the lawn.
Then came Wonkywing the Crow, said the corvine equivalent of Shove off, picked up the fatball just to make a point, carried it to a different part of the lawn, and dug in. I'm not sure if Mate (the other crow) got a share, though Mate certainly lurked in the vicinity of the feast.

I have watched a few episodes of a programme about a chef who's working on his own smallholding, growing all kinds of bits and pieces, acquiring livestockâcurly-haired piggies, chickens, feisty cattle, and most recently, a pair of guardian geese intended to protect future ducklings from predators. He was a bit taken aback by the geese. Which are huge.
I admire his determination to grow all kinds of fabulous vegetables, and perhaps one day I will emulate him. For the moment, I know too little of how vegetables grow to dare to attempt anything out of the mainstream. But I have now seen a cauliflower 'in the field', as it were, which is good, because I'm trying to grow some from seed this year and had no idea what to expect. It's sorta like a green-wrapped brain on a stick.

Our front door is *still* no more than decorative, as there is behind it no floor... which confused our singers last night when they came round for a short rehearsal. We're taking part in the Norfolk County Music Festival this week.
We still need floor, plastering round doors and replaced window, a windowsill, and probably other bits that I have grown used to Not Being Right, but I would very much like it all to be completed. Sigh.
