i wish you hope when things are going bad
Oct. 21st, 2024 09:35 pmOur run-up to Convention this year has been Interesting.
First there were the fire engines that delayed our dress rehearsal/performance.
Subsequently, lots of members are affected by some germ or other, and missing rehearsals so as not to share with everyone else.
We had a concert on Friday, which actually went very well, and gave us the opportunity to sing with a different acoustic and a different stage set-up, which is always useful. When we get to Bournemouth, there won't be an opportunity to practise on the big Convention stage, so getting used to different situations is good for us.
We had another, hmm, opportunity for resilience this evening - we thought we had booked our usual rehearsal room, but the yoga teacher was in there and teaching until 8.30pm. We ended up in the school's main hall instead, and without risers, but hey, it's good for us. And the sound was very bright and ping-y. \o/
So probably, our preparation is going well! All I have to worry about now is my costume making it to Bournemouth without me: as I'm travelling on the coach, I have entrusted my dress and shoes to someone who's driving down there. I expect all will be fine.
Just for extra fun (and stress) in this run-up to Convention week, I purchased two black sequinned jackets today (very similar but from different stores) and took them along to rehearsal for people to try on and determine which design they preferred. So actually, the delay while we waited to be let into the main hall was quite useful! Happily, the jackets went over rather well, so I am hoping to have a fully completed list in time to order them towards the end of this week. We shall look very glam.
