I know - more complicated, always. But I was probably thinking of the kind of things fanfic writers would need to know, or else the kind of things that I've noticed are likely t be different here.

I think there was a secondary school in Hemel that didn't have a uniform for a while, but they've gone back to having one now. Something that seems utterly sensible and is utterly practical for us - which I think the Americans as a whole find faintly horrifying!
