Date: 2013-12-18 03:25 pm (UTC)I love Jane Austen, most particularly P & P and Persuasion, but they do all have so much to say. Particularly on the subject of fathers, who are a pretty rotten lot, overall. Sir Thomas is a decent chap, I suppose (I don't read Mansfield Park as much because Fanny is so tiresome).
We're just starting to watch the 'Emma' series with (ooooh) Jonny Lee Miller as Knightley. It's super! I also have an older version, but that one is very staidly scripted and rather dull. It is interesting to see how people interpret the books for series like this, and in general the BBC do it ever so well. Things like Mrs Bennett being very put upon even as she is childish and silly, come out when you see it performed.
