I don't read Agatha Christie these days, but Georgette Heyer's murder mystery novels are old and comfortable friends. And I go through my collection of Dick Francis books every so often, too. As Dorothy Sayers remarks - hmm, can't remember which book, it may be post-marital Wimsey - detective novels are very reassuring in the way that they set the disrupted world back in order. Very moral, too.
