I had to go somewhere at 5pm today, and it struck me that I had not driven anywhere in the dark for... well, I can't remember how long it has been. Very odd.
It is such a weird feeling now that that doesn't happen regularly! I had to drop something off for a friend last weekend and it felt extremely strange both driving down the route to her place for the first time since March, and then driving home as the sun was setting. I know habits can be learned quickly, but I didn't quite realize how quickly they can be unlearned.
I find now I can only cope if I start out in the light so the dark slowly creeps up on me. Starting out in the dark is all weird and alien. Though I have to drive on narrow country lanes with passing places and it is actually easier when you can see people's headlights coming the other way.
Yes, our Norfolk country lanes are the same, definitely easier with headlights to give you a warning. Not that I have anywhere to go at the moment that is out of the city!
