All that is left is the axolotl

As I lay in bed this morning, a story came to me, cute, sweet, short, Nick/Brian. I refined it, worded it carefully, and thought, that'll be nice, a happy little ficlet to start the day. So I got out of bed and went into the bathroom. After I washed and dried my face, I realised the story had gone. Completely. All that I can remember is the axolotl.

That's so frustrating.

Oh, that sucks. That's like when you have a really good dream, and you wake up and think, oh, nice, I'm gonna remember that one, and in the middle of the day you realize that you've forgotten what it was about.

Quite! It didn't feel like a dream, I don't usually revise my sentences in my head in dreams, but perhaps I wasn't awake after all. And I can't remember at all what it was about, just that it was a really cute little story.
