Yesterday's trainer session was hard work! My lower abdomen reminded me of this when I sat up in bed this morning.

My cute and ruthless personal trainer had devised three circuits for me. Each was four exercises, one minute of each, followed by five minutes cardio. Lemme see...

First circuit

- sitting on ball, 3kg weights, shoulder press (?) - making a 'rainbow' shape with the weights over my head
- lunges, with 5kg weights in each hand
- overhead stretch with blue medicine ball while lying on the big ball
- Russian twists with blue ball
5 minutes of rowing, half at 2:20 or better, half at 2:30 or better.

Second circuit
involved a strappy thing with stirrup handles. Can't think of a better way to describe it, can't remember what it's actually called, but what it means is using your own body weight as resistance. Which means I get to work quite hard.

- press ups, leaning forward facing away from machine
- one-legged squats (really hard!) leaning backward facing machine
- row alternating with lower arm pull, leaning backward facing machine
- plank, with forearms on floor and feet in stirrups, then pulling knees in to belly and straightening (I collapsed at the three quarter point, not surprisingly—augh!)
5 mins on cross-trainer at 65, final minute at 75+

Third circuit

- push ups with hands on ball against wall (surprisingly doable)
- squat against the wall (absolute murder!)
- stand on half-ball, 4kg raises with lower arms
- head and shoulders raised, touch feet on alternate sides

Mercifully followed by four minutes cool-down on the treadmill.

Very interesting session. It's surprising how long a minute can be, particularly when you are 'sitting' against the wall with your knees right-angling and your thighs *screaming*... but overall I did pretty well.

Had my first I'm-in-charge session on the Box Office, which was not too busy, but got very stupidly confused over what was in the box at the end of the evening. However, aside from someone very generously overpaying by £20, it all balanced. Hope we get a few more walk-ins tonight, though.
