pensnestIt looks as though I'm going to be directing Iolanthe come September. *small sigh* I do *want* to direct Iolanthe, but... well, I'm in charge of our summer show, starting in March, which doesn't give me a whole lot of time to prepare. And I haven't even read the thing yet.
However. I went in to London to see the Carl Rosa company's production on Friday evening. I took Manna Francis' 'Mind Fuck' with me to read on the train and as I ate. Enjoyed both, in oh so very different ways.
A propos of nothing, have a macro.
Last night, I went with a friend to see a new show, can't actually remember what it was called, but it was about being in an amateur theatre society. Quite a lot of familiar things, but... ultimately, it wasn't funny and frantic enough to be farce - and wasn't trying to be, either - but didn't have enough characterisation to be not-farcical comedy. Also, the three - *three!* - gay stereotypes irritated me immensely, though to be fair, one of them did actually have a function in the script that wasn't "Ooh, Gay, haha!" A script with some good ideas but not particularly good execution, and rather poor direction. Good singers, though. Anyway, not a show we shall be looking to perform.
And now, as a reward for reading the above, you can haz naked Alan Cumming. The last second of this is the *most perfect thing!*.
Could he have a better name, really?
