Water, water!
Mar. 20th, 2017 09:50 amI never really appreciated the luxury of being able to turn on a tap and get clean, fresh drinking water, until Wednesday of last week. With our water supply at long last coming to the house through lead-free pipes*, we can drink it straight from the tap instead of doing our own filtering (by running two watering canfuls through the system** and then storing the fresh water in an increasing collection of four-pint milk bottles, rinse and repeat for two years). I'm still not used to it!
* It might be thought we were being over-precious, since our 50+-year-old brains are not going to be that badly affected by extra lead, but it was three times the recommended limit after being allowed to stand for just half an hour, and we couldn't bring ourselves to fancy drinking it like that.
** It got used for flushing the toilet
( Cut for decorating talk )
