Beast and/or his dad found this in the garden last night.
It was growing beneath the apple tree. I'd never seen one before. Have you?
Just to give you a clearer idea of the size of the thing,
It's a puffball, an edible fungus. Which I'd always thought were about the size of ping pong balls, but in this case, apparently not. Beast did some internet searching, and we had some fried slices of it last night. And survive to tell the tale.
There is a great deal of it left!
