Sep. 8th, 2019 10:32 pmFriday would have been my Grandma's birthday, had she lived to be, er, 109. But it's never a bad thing to have an extra reason to remember my Grandma, who was wonderful. Old people on red scooters, and goldenrod in my garden, and anemones, remind me of my Grandma, and that is good.

I didn't post that on Grandma's birthday because I didn't really have a lot of computer access. I am typing now in front of a vibrant new monitor, even bigger than the previous monitor, and with a little square dark grey box less than a handspan across and half a thumb deep to provide the computer power. Beast has spent a good deal of time setting it all up, including a virtual machine so that I can still use my CS5 programs. It is all very shiny, but here and there something has had to go. (I may never play Bookworm again, but that is arguably a good thing.)

Spent much of Friday evening going to a mini music festival in a church out in the wilds of Norfolk, not with my own chorus but with the little acappella group a friend has been working on for a few months. It was their first public performance, and they were all very nervous, so four of us went along to provide support.
I do approve of using churches for this kind of community event—particularly gigantic country churches in tiny villages, of which Norfolk has a plenteous supply. The quality of the music was, er, variable, and I didn't stay for the evening, but I feel noble and virtuous for having gone.

Cannot keep up with political shenanigans, the rapid zigzagging between hope, rage and despair is too exhausting. I offer, to all those afflicted with such feelings, Ducklings jumping out of a nesting box because this is amazing and kind of hilarious. And, ducklings! Also, an unusually large family.
