so you missed winter
Feb. 23rd, 2022 05:36 pmI seem to have been fairly absent from Dreamwidth for several days, so if you have posted something I ought to have commented on, I'm sorry. I'm not sure that I'll be checking back through everything. Looking at my entries, it's not as long ago as it feels.......
Catch-up time.

We got the car back *today*. Haven't had much chance to see whether the new battery has actually cured the fault....

Boiling tap still MIA. But they are going to send somebody to service it. A month from now .
Grump.

Plumbers and electrician have been very busy hereabouts for several days. I made them Millionaire's Shortbread as a small reward. Poor Toby spent a good hour yesterday in his T-shirt in the garden with his arm down the hole that leads to the manifold. He had to adjust all the connections, which apparently had been done back-to-front.
They turned off the central heating yesterday, and took out the gas boiler. Surprisingly not that cold by the time we went to bed, and the double-strength duvet did a fine job, but it has been very cold during the day. I was bundled up with an extra jumper, a woolly hat, gloves, blanket over the legs, and knitted shawl.
But... they are done! Chief Plumber is going over the system with Beast, though both are a bit baffled at present as the only instructions we have are in German. My German is definitely not good enough to decipher technical details. Anyway, the system is apparently heating up the hot water before it gets around to heating the house.
There is a magnificent array of copper piping and clock faces, like a steampunk forest, in our utility room.

On Saturday, we did a YouTube Yoga video instead of our usual routine. Our usual routine lasts around an hour, but I was getting very bored with it and wanted a change. This was just 30 min, but constantly moving instead of holding postures: there were no moves involved that we hadn't done before, although a standing split followed by three curtseys is not something that's part of our regular session.
Considerably to my surprise, I had rather sore upper arm muscles on Sunday. I suppose there were a lot of vinyasas (sp???) in the routine, so there we go. Good to have a change. Of course we did not manage to do our official exercise today or yesterday because of the plumbers, lack of heating, and at some point, draining down of hot water system. Perhaps being cold burns calories. I can only hope.
