Jul. 4th, 2022 02:17 pmI am logged in - yay!
For I have suffered a bereavement. My computer could not be resuscitated by any of Beast's careful attempts, so it is currently residing at the Apple hospital. I hope very much they will be able to bring it back to me, since my life is mostly there. It wouldn't start up at all. And though well backed up, the backup device (it turns out) cannot be read by any of the other computers in the house. Gah.
So. No emails for me, which on one hand is blessedly peaceful, but on the other is mighty inconvenient. But I was able to get in touch with my imminent visitors by phone, and we have Many Fine Things planned this week that don't need me to be on my computer. It's a good week for it to be gone, really. I was relieved, though, to find that the laptop is logged in to Dreamwidth.
It made for a very complicated couple of days. My chorus had a music coach for the day on Saturday: she stayed with me, arriving here late on Friday. I spent Thursday afternoon cooking puddings, and Friday afternoon cooking pies (shepherd's, fish, vegan shepherd's, and slightly curried vegetable), for I had invited a bunch of chorus members to dinner on Saturday evening, after the full day of coaching. Something I could just stuff in the oven was the right choice! Anyway, the coaching day was really inspiring, and dinner went very well and was a lot of fun. Our coach did some small-group/individual sessions here on Sunday morning, including me as part of a quartet (interesting), and Beast had a sing out that afternoon. So the weekend was complicated by Beast's attempts to mend my Mac, and our Boy's plea for help taking down his blinds as he's due for a delivery of new ones this morning. Oh yes, and one of our freezers also failed last week and was replaced on Sunday morning!
So, phew.
