A weekend which won't sound like hard work, but it was! We had a two day chorus coaching event. On Saturday, there was an outside coach: this was a Music category judge, and I always enjoy what the Music judges have to say, because they go into the details of chord structure and all sorts of cool stuff, but it has to be said, this is (a) hard work if you're interested and already have some clue, and (b) absolutely baffling otherwise. Things like, this is a ninth, and with this part on the root, you have to sing it thus. I will take your word for it, you fabulous lady. Sometimes the things we learn are obvious—the difference between a chord that develops outwards and one that develops inwards, f'rinstance, but sometimes I find myself thinking, it would have taken me an hour to figure out what that chord was, and I'd have had no idea what to do with it.

We had pizza together at the end of the day, and a nice chat.

Sunday was a bit more relaxed. We went over the notes from the first day and tried to sing with everything in mind—there was a lot to think about, but we've definitely made progress. Songs were sounding beautiful by the end of the day.

But all I wanted to to when I got home was veg in front of the telly.

I did, in fact, 'veg', in that I culled a bunch of oversized courgettes and a lotta tomatoes, and made ratatouille to freeze, and froze some green beans, and baked courgettes with sauce to eat for dinner.

Today I went to the hospital in Bury St Edmunds to see a man about a hip. Had an X-ray, which demonstrated clearly the degradation in my left hip. The right hip is affected as well, just less so. But it's not so severe that a replacement would be the right call.

The trip to Bury gave me a chance to get used to the new car, and Beast the opportunity to find out how to turn of some of the more annoying features. The lane guide kept blinking at me, and I prefer to figure out how to stay in my lane for myself, so off it went. It keeps pestering us to join the online network, but we haven't found out how to get rid of that yet. We should probably keep a list, given that our actual new car, which we won't get until next year, is the same brand and will probably have all the same annoying features.
