there must be lights burning brighter
Oct. 4th, 2022 09:01 pmI'm happy to report that Beast is doing rather better now, although he still has desperate fits of coughing occasionally. He took a test this morning, and it was positive. I did likewise, and mine was negative.
Not being able to spend the better part of the morning at the gym has meant being a bit more productive about the house. Today, we put up the new, fancy light. It took several days to put it together (not working flat out, you understand), and getting it onto the ceiling was quite a procedure. It weighs about One Sable, and we discovered a lath and plaster ceiling, so the screws for the holding plate went in all right, but getting the light up there to connect the wires was... interesting. Slightly to my dismay, we built a tower of cardboard—four large removals boxes plus a bunch of fat cardboard slices which I've been saving as canvasses. Put the light onto it so that Beast could connect the wires. It worked, mercifully. He had to pick it up to get the light onto the holding plate, and struggled a bit to screw things down, but it is now Up, and it Works!
We spent the rest of the afternoon extracting obnoxious roots from the hedge space and replanting a couple of saved lilac plants, which I hope will decide to thrive.
I need to get on with planting up the flower beds, and keep procrastinating. I think I will need to spend quite a bit of money on plants, and I'm reluctant! But I have geraniums, alliums, verbena bonariensis and a Japanese anemone in the garden, to be replanted, and I have some Phlox and some daffodil bulbs, so I *could* get started. *gibber*
