I've been going old school with my TV watching lately. Have been collecting Murdoch Mysteries on the Virgin box—unfortunately these are being broadcast in two separate timelines at present, which means I'm watching season 10 while collecting 15 and 16. I like the combination of long-term relationships vs this week's case, so I'll do my best to keep watching in sequence. Hope the box doesn't fill up!

Meanwhile, Beast and I found White Collar on Disney+ and are part-way through the second season. It's a relief to go back to what seems nowadays to be an old-fashioned style of television: episodic plots, with a long-term narrative thread that isn't in high focus. I don't always want to watch An Arc.

Anyway. I know a couple of my friends were into White Collar at the time, and I suppose the only reason why it wasn't fannish catnip for all back then is that Peter is not in the 'perfect age, exceptionally cute' category. (Peter is in the category I generally find most attractive—a person who *can* look really sexy—he has a great grin and a lovely voice—but doesn't, most of the time.) Neal is of course ridiculously pretty. And fans will slash, when they can, except they won't in general slash a pretty white guy with a good looking black guy (so Jones is out) and are reluctant to slash the PWG with a less pretty (or older) white guy.

Nonetheless, I dare say there was plenty of Neal/Peter slash (no need to consider the possibility of Mozz, obviously, bald people don't have sex unless they are Captain Picard), and I'm fairly confident there must have been Neal/Peter/Elizabeth stories. I think of these as "Peter is obviously attracted to a type, and both his wife and his CI fit it", but I can also see Neal yearning to be part of something as solid as their marriage. Oddly, I don't see El providing the impetus for a threesome, though she'd facilitate it if she saw that Peter wanted it. Hmm.

Anyway. I mostly don't see the Neal/Peter relationship as slashy, because so often I see Peter look at Neal with the kind of fondness that a teacher might have for a brilliant but wayward student. Or, and this is a better tug for the heartstrings, a dad for his kid. And this, I love.

So can anyone recommend me any White Collar stories involving (a) the father-son vibe, or (b) a grown-up threesome? Plot also welcome! Spoiler warnings would be appreciated if there are bombshells beyond season 2.
