pensnest: brightly coloured red poppies against a vivid blue/green/yellow background (Floral poppies)
So, we've had four cars to drive over the past nine months.

We started with the Prius, which was what we had when we put down a deposit on a new electric car (due 1Q 2023). But the Prius became so unreliable we had to move on, and we got a hybrid Kia as a rental car from the garage we'd ordered the new car from. Then, about six weeks ago, they rang us to ask us to change car again as that one had been sold. We got a shiny new top-of-range electric model instead, with lots of nice knobs and whistles and a few irritating ones as well. (That lane-keeping function is really annoying!) And now, at long last, since yesterday we are driving our very own, rather late, all-electric car. It isn't quite as shiny as the fancy one we had as a stopgap, but it's pretty smooth.

Weirdly, it is only the second time we've bought a car... after our very first Golf, many years ago, all the others were company cars, one of which (the Prius) we took ownership of when Beast retired.

Dress rehearsal for our Convention set this evening, full costume, vibrant lipstick etc. I think I may need a nap beforehand. I still have lots of plants to put out, but the weather has been unencouraging and I've not wanted to risk the vegetables, particularly since the lone surviving courgette has now disappeared and the two pumpkin plants look very wan. :-(

There is a large, leafy object growing in the herb bed, like a particularly exotic cabbage. (It's not a cabbage.) I decided to let it get on with growing, as the leaves are pretty, and my plant identifier app tells me it is an opium poppy. So I look forward to seeing some blooms. If I can, I shall try to shake poppy heads over the front garden, now formally designated a no-mow, wild-flower area.

I participated in a coaching day on Sunday, going off to Peterborough with our MD and two more chorus members, to work with a group who haven't had a musical director for a long time, and were struggling a bit. Last year, several of them would come over to us occasionally for a Thursday evening rehearsal, and three of them joined us for our Convention performance. So it was nice to see them again, and to spend a day singing—even though the new polecat, With A Little Help From My Friends, is a very dull arrangement. The big challenge is to remember which words come next. Everybody knows the words, but getting them in the right order??? Hmm.
