Anyone reading this who participated in the Kradam_holidays fic exchange?

Are you as fed up with it as I am? It has been almost ten days since the last story was posted, and there has been no news as to whether there are any stories yet to post, no reveal, and not even a revised schedule to say when we can expect these things.

I have to say, I'm pretty damn unimpressed.

I've just commented at the 'Page a Mod' post to ask about these things. I hope you'll do the same (if you haven't already). It's very unfair to anyone whose story has not been posted (I know for certain of one author), and it's irritating to those of us who participated in good faith.

I know for certain of one author who wrote a pinch hit that hasn't been posted, has been submitted and acknowledged by the mods. (also that it was delivered after the original deadline, so not too much fuss is being made.)

But yes, I'm fed up that they haven't announced a revised schedule or posted more fic that they definitely have. And won't be signing up next year thanks to this communication breakdown.

Let's face it, the mods haven't kept to the original schedule so there can be no complaints if participants haven't! I won't be doing it next time around either. The lack of information is infuriating.

One of the mods is busy running the Jossverse bigbang now, I know that. (And that has a ludicrously long sign up period.)

It's absolutely ridiculous. How hard would it be to just post the rest of the stories in one go, and reveal the authors right away? I hope a lot of people contact the mods about it. (I keep thinking that there must be more because yours hasn't been posted yet, or maybe I missed it. )

I think the problem is also that there are too many challenges going on at the same time, run by people who clearly haven't done it before and with ridiculously drawn out schedules. I keep wanting to tell them that a long time for each phase doesn't actually help people write, just forget about the challenge. I think one of the holiday mods is running another kradam challenge as well.

It's been a month since Christmas for god's sake.

Also, if nothing happens, I suggest somebody makes a post on kradam_ai (or similar) calling for participants to post their own stories, and announce them in fic comms by themselves. It's not like the mods own the stories, so they can't keep them hostage forever.

Yeah... I've actually had my submission posted and had the story written for me posted, but I know other people have missed out one way or another. If the mods have lost interest, they might at least have the grace to pose *something* to the comm about it.

Grr! *cue Kradam fans rising up in wrath*

Well, I never did get a response, but my story was just posted. Apparently I'm "patient elf." I have no words.

I know. And I don't know if you caught it but right after they posted mine they posted another that had already been posted which has since been deleted.

It's the carelessness and the thoughtlessness that really bothers me. Almost makes me want to start a challenge that I know will be run properly.

I'd been under the impression, originally, that at least one story would be posted every day until they were all done, which hasn't ever been the case. It's just a mess!

That's what I thought. And then I wondered with the sporadic posting if there was low participation (it doesn't look like that's the case). I don't know. I notice that they haven't posted any kind of "mod" post about when posting will be completed & when reveals are. And I still haven't gotten a response on my email or page a mod (beyond the story being posted). I think I'm just going to steer clear in the future of challenges that I know are going to be run like this.

I haven't been contacted either. Hmph. I think if they run this again next year, they'll be surprised by the low repeat participation.

I think they will be. Not to mention if they mod other comms. One of the mods also mods kradamreversebb and thought I recently had to drop out of the writing portion, throughout I've noticed the same lack of attention. It took 2 email from me to find out who the my artist was because they never did a matchup list. It's the same thing all over again.

It's great to be excited about the idea of something like this, but you have to handle the administration portion of it effectively.
