pensnest: the NSYNC boys in red and white (NSYNC group)

It's SeSa time again! When we start getting excited, and counting the signups day by day, and hoping our favourite writers will be participating—and maybe nudging them a little in case they need the encouragement. When we get our assignments and exclaim with joy/shriek with woe, because we've got a pairing we love/hate/never wrote before, a recipient we admire/don't know/have been friends with for ever and cannot under any circumstances disappoint, and a request which is completely bizarre/exactly the kind of thing we love writing/going to need a heck of a lot of research.

YAY!

I firmly believe this is the best challenge around. It generates a fantastic atmosphere within our beloved fandom, it's incredibly well run (nobody has *ever* lacked a story at go-live), and it always produces really wonderful stories (I firmly believe that a lot of us write some of our best work for the SeSa challenge).

Since 2001.

Okay, circumstances dictated a change of name and administrators back in 2007, from Don We Now Our Gay Apparel to Make The Yuletide Gay, but it has been very recognisably the same Secret Santa story exchange, and has even added a few new features to make it all work *even better* than before.

I know there are people who Subscribe to my DW journal/are on my LJ Friends list who have drifted away from popslash. Even the Best Fandom Ever loses energy after a while, and our Nsync boys are not helping—although Backstreet are still bringing the love. But think about this—a challenge that this year celebrates its TENTH ANNIVERSARY. That's, like, centuries in internet time. Can you bear to miss out? Don't you want to be a part of that?

For those of us who still count ourselves as popslashers, this is the *best* time of year. For those who used to be popslashers... how about giving it another go? Apparently, nostalgia's even better than it used to be.
