Winter can be very pretty.
For instance,
rikes and I happened to be doing a tour of the Globe Theatre last Tuesday, and big fat flakes of snow came down while we were sitting looking at the stage. It was incredibly pretty, quite magical. Today, and yesterday, there has been severe frost here, and I think it makes the trees far prettier than snow does. Everything is crisped and perfectly still.
Beast is moderately happy today, for he has his WoW expansion. Moderately, because our internetz haz been playing up since yesterday evening. We're currently using the backup connection, so I can receive but cannot send email, and when the phone rings it seems to go offline… I dunno.
But, on my Expotitionto the North Pole into town to collect Beast's two copies of the WoW expansion (he had one delivered digitally, and another through the post), I managed to sort out quite a lot of the rest of Christmas but I haven't written my MTYG story yet, things like crackers, a last couple of presents, smart boxes etc, and some cream-filled willies for next year's Camp Sparkle. Walked into one shop to hear the tail end of "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" and had to grin to myself for a while.
I finished another present this afternoon but I haven't written my MTYG story yet and shall package it up to post tomorrow, along with a bunch more cards (the first set went off yesterday). Any more takers? Admittedly I have not yet produced The Christmas Letter or my MTYG story or the non-internet-related Christmas cards, or sprayed the stuff for the musical company's tree-in-the-church, but these are mere details. I have taken the panto programme to the printers. I have sorted presents into little heaps for wrapping. I think I am winning except for MTYG.
More interestingly, I have a breast examination tomorrow. I have not had one of these before, but I am Old now. The car has been taken away for servicing, so I'll have to walk to Leisureworld, where it is to be done. (I wouldn't have put breast examinations on a par with ice skating and the cinema myself, but it takes all sorts.) Hope it doesn't snow. No, the BBC says we shall have , ooh, one degree Centigrade tomorrow. Warmth! Bit windy, though.
