Well, I'm back.

Temporarily, and using Beast's phone as a HotSpot, because our internetz will not be installed until Tuesday, but I thought I'd post an update.

Man, it's hard work packing up everything one owns. We had a week, and managed it well enough to find ourselves at a loose end on the day before moving day, so we went off to the cinema (and then collapsed into bed early).

The removal of all our stuff into a large van was accomplished with remarkable dispatch, and we'd vacuumed and read the meters and checked everything well before our deadline... but the money wasn't coming through from the bottom of the chain. We ate at MacDonalds and set out for Norwich not knowing if we'd actually be sleeping in our own house that night or camping on the children's floor. Our solicitor was very good about calling with updates on the situation, but it was a very stressful drive until at last, five minutes before the banking deadline was up, we got the news that we'd definitely been paid for our house, and had sent the money along for the purchase. Got to the estate agents at four, and they very genially handed over the key and congratulated us.

So we're in! And have been unpacking more or less continuously since, with breaks for (a) tea and cake with the next-door neighbours, (b) visiting a selection of DIY shops and our new gym to transfer our membership, and (c) Easter Day lunch as cooked by my Bun. The house is fit for habitation, as we have put the kitchen, main bedroom and study into good working order, and disposed of perhaps half of our boxes to the children—who will themselves be moving in ten days' time. There are no right angles here, but the windows are large and the ceilings high, and the house is a logical, comfortable shape. With enough ins, outs and round-abouts to enable one to film a convincing farce with an entire boyband popping in and out and failing to bump into one another, should one happen to have a boyband available.

Right. Time for tea and toast.
