May. 22nd, 2015 08:44 amMy son cooked supper last night. Tiger prawn linguine.
The children are trying out one of those delivery schemes whereby they get sent four meals for four people per week. As four of them share a house, they can take turns cooking without having to ponder in advance what to cook. Two of the house-dwellers had gone (to the Cambridge Beer Festival, natch) so there were two spare dinners, so Bun and Boy invited us over. And very nice it was, too.
I must say, I do like this new adjustment to our relationship. We're close enough to do things together more often and more casually than previously, and we can relate as adults who like each other, as well as parents/children.

Barbershop choir last night had an interesting component—we split into two halves and sang to each other. Barbershop involves a *lot* more overt expression than any other choral singing I've ever done: it's more like being in the chorus of a show, in many respects—one must give good eyebrow, and so forth. I've been finding it quite hard to try and get my face and body involved in the singing beyond the usual *smile*, but with an actual audience, and also with the example of what the other half did first, it was easier and really enjoyable. I can now sing three of the songs!

That sounds excellent.

It's easy to do things together, but we're also independent adults with our own households and routines. Very handy.
