Dec. 22nd, 2015 10:21 pmArgh. I hate the gap between finishing my MTYG story and being able to read ALL THE STORIES. I have been consoling myself—in the gaps in a rather busy day—with going back to some classic-era popslash at The Take Back The Songfic Challenge. Lotta Justin, which doesn't seem to happen in MTYG these days.
One of the things I did today was to sing at a centre for children with disabilities. A small group from the barbershop choir (just eight of us, but sadly, we had lost our baritones so the sound wasn't quite right) went along at lunchtime and actually, it was delightful. One little girl was adorable, singing lustily along with 'Rocking around the Christmas Tree' in particular. I think the kids enjoyed it. Their adult helpers did, and I certainly did. I hope that visit is going to become part of my pre-Christmas routine in future.
In sadder news, discovered that my father's widow died a few days ago. Not at all unexpected, given that she had liver and bowel cancer and was too weak to receive any treatment. I really feel for her children, especially as their aunt died about two weeks ago and her funeral is tomorrow.

We saw the new Star Wars film yesterday, and I'm not going to comment on it in the open, just going to grumble that having paid a little extra for 'premier' seats so that we didn't have to scramble for a good place in the cinema, said seats were actually quite uncomfortable. They must have been built for six-foot tall(+) people, because my feet did not reach the floor properly, and I ended up using my handbag as a foot rest. Meh.
